Rockstar have officially confirmed that Grand Theft Auto V is set to be released in spring 2013. The developer has not yet confirmed a multi-platform release, so spring will likely mark the release for the Playstation 3 and X-Box 360 platforms.
The release window had already leaked by promotional posters and retailer listings, but now Rockstar has confirmed the timing, and revealed that pre-orders for the next installment in the record-breaking franchise will begin on November 5th 2012. Those wondering where the next game will be set will be pleased to know that GTA V will be set in the fictional city of Los Santos, a city based on the modern-day Los Angeles.
Rockstar calls it “the largest and most ambitious title in the series to date.” The game is said to deliver “a world of unprecedented scale and detail bursting with life,” from mountaintops to oceans. “Grand Theft Auto V builds on everything we’ve learned about open world game design,” said Rockstar founder Sam Houser. “We can’t wait to share it with fans.”
Expect more information on the game to be released in November as Rockstar begin their pre-marketing campaign.
